The “Big Hearts” that the citizen’s of West Virginia possess amazes’ me. We are one of the poorest states in the Nation money wise, but we are the richest in Love, Kindness and giving. With the state of the economy, they were able to double the funds raised last year. Maybe West Virginia’s not as poor as some think. Congrats guys and Thanks for taking to plunge to help other’s in need.
The funds raised went to the Special Olympics.
Jumping into a pool full of freezing cold Mon River water doesn’t seem like a typical Saturday afternoon activity, but that’s exactly what hundreds did at Star City marina on Feb. 26.
“Plungers” got contributions leading up to the event that will go toward the Special Olympics. Participants raised around $64,000, easily eclipsing the $38,000 raised last year.
Another difference between the plunge from last year is that the “Plungers” were only allowed to jump into a pool, instead of running down the ramp directly into the Mon river. Recent rain water and flooding made the conditions unsafe.
